25 Stories - Contemporary Jewelry Group Exhibition

2021-11-20

Brief introduction:

Narrative jewellery usually applies various materials to form a series of visual symbols that compose a narrative for communication. However, Gadamer pointed that comprehension is a fusion of the interpreter’s scopes of the current and past, therefore, every viewer of narrative jewellery is also a re-creator when they start to interpret the narrative from the jewellery. And the wearer, as a link of the maker to the viewer, his\her contexts will support new clues for interprets. This special mode makes narrative jewellery from individual creations to collective creations- a dynamic narrative.

Therefore, in The 25 Stories jewellery exhibition, we invite 25 artists to choose different topics before waiting for visitors to tell stories about these topics. The 25 artists will hear, have resonances, and respond to these stories by jewellery. This experimental exhibition aims to add a new role into the mode of the maker, and wearer and viewer, namely, the sharer. The sharer is both the co-creator and beholder, or, possibly, the wearer so that to stimulate the dynamic boundary of contemporary narrative jewellery.

B.R. Gallery invites you to participate in this experimental project that will allow the public to understand how contemporary craftsmanship tells warm stories through materials and processes, how artists tell the stories of ordinary people, and how metal art and contemporary jewellery can come into people's lives.
