Born in 1988, Chao Wang currently lives and works in Shanghai. He is a professional teacher at the College of Jewellery, Shanghai Jian Qiao University. His personal studio is also set up in Shanghai. Wang graduated from the School of Design of Nanjing University of the Arts. After graduating from it, he also worked as a professional teacher in the school for nine years. During his tenure, he has organized and participated in many international workshop projects for foreign artists. Wang has been selected for two national art exhibitions, and his works have also been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, San Francisco and other places.
Wang's early works reflect the study and experiment on the law of form. Through repeated experiments on the law of form composition, he tried to summarize the ontological characteristics of modern metal manual art from the experimental results. In the later works, he tried to study in other directions, such as “Weaving”, hoping to abandon the expressive power of "concept" brought to the work in the process of creation, return to the simple process or the material itself, and find the meaning of "beauty" presented through the process itself or the material itself.
In 2017, Wang participated in the design and production of hand gift brooches given by Chinese leaders. In 2020, he designed silver commemorative coins for a Chinese university, and designed sports medals for the city games in 2021. The practical vessel works designed by Wang were also bought by many individual collectors.
